Location & Surroundings
Vryheid is surrounded by numerous historical sites, offering visitors the chance to explore the rich history of the area. The town is an excellent base for discovering the attractions of Northern Natal, with easy access to nearby cities and natural beauty and historical sites such as the Blood River heritage site, the Hlobane, Khambula, Scheepers Nek battlefields, museums, and nature reserves.
Many can trace back their ancestry to the Vryheid Abaqulusi area, including the those of Huguenot, Afrikaans, British and Zulu descent. Some notable surnames traceable to the area include Cronje, Du Toit, Sibiya, Ellenberger, Smith, Brown, Lancaster, Williams, Mncube, Gamede, Dlamini, Zulu
Accommodation & Experiences
The lodge offers guests a choice of 4 units: Lilly Ella, Lillybel, and Lilly Grace. These units can accommodate up to 2 guests each and furnished with either a double bed or 2 single beds. Each unit features an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. A budget unit is also available for the traveller under a budget, enquiries can be made in person. Events are hosted during the day, mostly over weekend afternoons, giving the overnight guest peace of mind always. Prices start from R550 per night.
